Lots has happened...

If we were having coffee today, I would tell you that...

  • On November 14th, our sweet baby Avery Shea went to doggie heaven. It was very sudden and very sad. It was completely unrelated to her earlier struggles. In 24 hours she went from normal to having her spinal cord being pinched by a calcified disc in her spine, to being completely paralyzed from behind her front legs. It was very painful for her and chances for recovery even with extensive surgery were limited. I miss her terrible and I will forever love her dearly. She was the best
  • Travis has been gone a lot lately. He was been hunting the past two weekends. I'm glad he'll be home for awhile now.
  • I saw Hunger Games: Catching Fire last weekend. It was very good, however, I maintain the books are better!
  • It is snowing like crazy right now and I don't want to drive in it!! Eeekkk!

Yes, I suck at blogging, thanks Jess

If we were having coffee today, I would tell you that...

  • Basically Avery almost died a couple of weeks ago. (Slight exaggeration.) But after costing us the price of CrossFit for an entire year (that's a lot by the way), she's semi back to health. :(
    • Okay actually here's the story. We think she's allergic to something in the woods and it's causing ridiculous red spots, swelling, and other horrible things (when she eats it, of course it's worse). We are assessing the situation. I'm thankful for a cute dog.
  • My crown popped out of my mouth for the second time in 3 months. Then I proceeded to be told I needed 6 cavities filled. My mouth rocks. I'm thankful for insurance.
  • Scott came to visit for a second time. You know, because he likes us and all. Unfortunately, Travis had to work a lot that weekend, but we did do some great things. Like celebrate his 30th birthday! I'm thankful for awesome friends.
  • Oh, I rode in a small plane and came scarily close to vomiting on/around co-workers. I'm thankful for great co-workers.
  • I'm doing a daily thankful at home. Yes, I call them thankfuls. Everyday I say to Travis, "have you written your thankful yet?" Because I'm a good wife. I'm thankful for chalkboards which allow such activities.

Two days late...

If we were having coffee on 10/21/13, I would tell you that...

  • Uggghh! That blog post I just published has been waiting around to be published since last Monday! I couldn't get it to publish from my phone. :(
  • I am loving Crossfit right now! Jess is going now and killing it. And I am getting better. I love our coach and our box is small right now, and it all just makes me really happy. I went four times last week!
  • We had a really wonderful weekend of mostly just being at home with no plans, which hasn't happened in a really long time. It was great. We bottled beer (coffee stout), picked up leaves, mowed the lawn, fertilized the lawn, did laundry, washed dishes, made mulled wine, went for a walk.  Travis changed the oil in both cars, and rotated the tires. We were fabulous home owners.
  • Jess and I volunteered for the GR Marathon on Sunday! We woke up at 4:30 AM to be course monitors. It was super great and we cheered ridiculously hard. I'm pretty sure I've said it on here before, but there is nothing more frustrating than running past spectators who are just standing there. CHEER, CHEER, CHEER! Jess and I did our part.
  • I also got new shoes for crossfit from the Rockford Shoe Depot. They are BA and I'm super excited about them. And yes, I did squat in the store to make sure they worked for me. I'm ready for rope climbs!!

Monday Virtual Coffee

If were having coffee today, I would tell you that...

  • Last week the weather was fabulous.
  • This last weekend was great! Jeff and Lauren came to visit from KC. They got here on Friday afternoon. Highlights from the weekend include:
    • Visiting a few winery tasting rooms in Holland/Grand Haven
    • A wonderful beer tasting from Our Brewing Company
    • Two WODs at crossfit on Saturday, one being a partner WOD
    • Many hours spent at a great temperature fall beach
    • An as always, delicious dinner at Sandy Point Beach House
    • My first trail run! Loved it!
    • Watching sports and eating pizza
  • Mostly it was a lovely weekend with some wonderful friends, and it was so great to see them. I am thankful for friends that will travel to see us, wherever we are!

October Virtual Coffee Date

If we were having a coffee date today... I would be one day late. And I would tell you that...

  1. Avery has been healing from her little mishap, and she gets her stitches out today.
  2. Fall arrived at our house last week. And I am planning to drill holes in those pumpkins, a la Pinterest style, obviously. :)
  3. Travis' family softball team were league champs last night! Woot woot! And most importantly, both his Monday and Thursday night leagues are done this week. Thank goodness for the return of some free nights! :)
  4. Last weekend I attended Art Prize in GR for my first time. It was actually quite great. Even greater was a much needed margarita that night, and a great dinner with great friends/family.
  5. Saturday Matt & Jess and T & I went to visit both of my grandmas. It was a full Saturday, but it was so nice. It is just wonderful to be back where we can spend time with them without trying to cram it in a short weekend. They both are getting older and I am thankful to be able to spend some time with them. It makes it so much more enjoyable to be able to have Matt & Jess there with us.
  6. Then on Sunday I made 7 paleo freezer meals! I have been talking about this for awhile, and my recent busyness has really hit home the fact that this needed to be done. It took a few hours and a little planning, but I think it will be worth it. I am all stocked and ready for any busyness that hits!
  7. Saturday night I beat Travis at ping pong. 4/5 times. Yes.
Hope you have a great week! And maybe I can be on time next week for our coffee date. :)
